State-X New Forms
State-X New Forms is a yearly 2-day festival in Het Paard van Troje in The Hague, started in 2005. Before about 4 editions of two festivals State-X and New Forms took place, before they were merged.
The festival is one of the few festivals in Holland focused
on cutting edge, avant garde rock music, noise rock and experimental electronic
music and my personal favorite. Most of the time it has a few better known
bands, like for instance Sonic
Youth, Aphex Twin, Enon,
Motorpsycho, The Ex, Pere Ubu and the rest of the festival mainly consists of
very obscure bands which are for the first time touring Holland.
At the 2006 edition I had my first appointment with Lee Ranaldo to talk about
his instrument, what eventually became the Moonlander.
At the 2008 edition I had an exhibition of all my instruments
and a presentation. Also Rhys Chatham did a
performance of his ÔGuitar Trio 1977Õ on which I participated and gave an interview in De
Volkskrant (translated in English) about in advance of the festival.
