Guitars with Rotated Pickups
Although the Springtime has perhaps become the most famous
guitar with rotated pickups IÕm by far not the first who tried this.
Sam Dook has incorporated a rotated pickup on his telecaster
(or whatÕs his guitar? CanÕt find the pic on my computer, sorry) and when I met
Deerhoof recently Ed Rodriguez told me he had modified his guitars in quiet the
same direction, also with rotated pickups and pickups in the tail piece like I
did in at the Twister and later on also on some of the Springtimes.
Sometimes I find pics on internet. Below is a gallery of
pics of guitars with rotated pickups I am aware of. If you have more, please
send me, if you know the owner or more info about the guitars below, please
also contact me. I like technology nerds.

Strat with an additional Precision pickup for the barre
chord section. If I see it correctly itÕs connected to a second output near the
Skull. Bridge pickup replaced by a small sized hunbucker. Owner, unknown, found
on internet.

This band above is Experimental Dental School. (http://www.experimentaldental.com/about.php)
Jesse Hall has cut off his tele to make it look more like Bo
DiddleyÕs square guitar. He told me he once tried to punch out the poles at
certain pickups and succeeded in this, without breaking the wire. Another way
to generate single string amplification.
Soon more pics.
