Placebo

I got tipped by a guy from a guitar forum, one of my instruments is appearing on the bonus DVD of the new Placebo album Battle for the Sun. Brian is playing the intro of the track Bright Lights on a Springtime during a recording session.

I recently found it also on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EMBwmwuYLjc

I approached Placebo in Juli 2008. As you can expact Placebo is a bit different than most bands I work for. You canÕt just mail them for an appointment. By ways of assistants, producers and managers I got in contact, but not one on one with Brian or Stefan. However it was said they responded very enthousiastic at the pictures I had send and we agreed I send them my own personal equipment to their studio in Canada, where they had allready started their recordings.

One month later I received my stuff back in good condition and I asked the producer if it was useful. Unfortunatelly the instruments were not actually used. Their producer Bottrill mailed to thank me for sending the instrument and mentioned the nature of unfortunatelly didn't apply to Placebo's music.

After listening the album I thinks thatÕs indeed true. PlaceboÕs album is not atmospheric noisy, so it would have been odd if my alternate systems all of the sudden would have appeared on it. Pitchfork gave a negative 3.4/10 review about the album on which I donÕt agree completly. The journalist who wrote it, certainly gives a good enumeration of cons about the work of Placebo, but still itÕs Molko whoÕs singing and you canÕt avoid his vocal talent, you may no like it though. And allthough IÕm never a big fan of big sounding productions the songs are good. Perhaps not surprisingly new and fresh in 2009. I donÕt know much bands who are still mind blowing innovative after six albums and thatÕs not a problem if you just focus on the nice tunes and not in advance expect adventure.

So I have not built anything for Placebo, and they didnÕt use it. Only this video moment exist. But itÕs a good moment and IÕm pleased Placebo experimented with the instruments.
